Global Liveability Index: Vienna becomes the best city to live in the world. Also, no city in India is in the top 100
The Economist Magazine has released the annual Global Liveability Index and in this list of 140 cities. Also the country’s capital Delhi is at112th and Mumbai at 117th rank.
Vienna: The name of Vienna, the capital of Austria, has come up as the best city to live in, in the world. Also, the performance of South Asian countries including India in this liveability list has been very disappointing. In the liveability list of 140 cities, the country’s capital Delhi is at 112th and Mumbai is at 117th position. At the same time, the city of Vienna in Austria has come on top of this list. According to the annual Global Liveability Index by The Economist Magazine, Pakistan’s financial capital Karachi and also Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka are among the least livable cities in the world. Syria’s capital Damascus is at the bottom of the list.
These cities are in the top 10 in the annual Global Liveability Index
According to the Economist Intelligence Unit (EUI) report, the top ten cities include Vienna, Melbourne, Osaka, Calgary, Sydney, Vancouver, Tokyo, Toronto, Copenhagen, and Adelaide. This is the first time that a European city has topped the rankings for the first time.
The top 10 cities have been ranked on the basis of factors including political and social stability, crime, access to education, and healthcare.
South Asian cities not named in the top list
Also, Simon Baptiste, EUI’s Chief Economist and Managing Director of Asia, said, “South Asian cities performed poorly on the index. Among the 6 cities, we have placed Delhi (112) on top, followed by Mumbai (117).
